Day 12 Saigon

March 24th, 2008
Distance travelled today: 0 km
Current Mood: :(

It was the day when we started heading our separate ways. It was sad to finally come to the end of our tour, but many of us were already looking forward to going home.

Those of us not in a hurry to leave spent the day exploring Saigon, a bustling city with many grand old buildings. It was back to reality as prices seemed closer to what we would find back home. After all the cheap beer throughout Vietnam, we were starting to find it difficult to part with $2 for a beer!

A group of us went to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, which were an amazing network of tunnels used by the Viet Cong during the American War (notice that they don’t call it the Vietnam war here). We were also able to fire off AK47’s and other weapons at the firing range. It got expensive, at $2/bullet, $40/second.

We exchanged addresses and contacts as we headed our separate ways. The tour was a success…and for many riders it was something unique they will remember for the rest of their lives.
